A Radiographer Mr Roland Igbinovia on duty at UNIBEN MEDICAL CENTER was assaulted by his sectional head for standing his ground in ensuring that a QUACK brought in by the director of health services at UNIBEN to operate the xray machine , does not do so since he is not qaulified to dispense ionizing radiation, as it contravenes the laws of Nigeria as stipulated by the radiographers registration board of Nigeria

According to information made available to Medicalworld Nigeria, the Director of health services department at the university of benin accused the radiographer of abusing the radiologist and frustrating all effort to make the Radiology Unit work effectively and efficiently by intimidating and disqualifying SOURCED persons to help in the Radiology Unit

Trouble started brewing when the Radiographer tried to ascertain the educational qualifications and professional competence of two young men brought to operate the x-ray machine, one of the individuals was found to be a graduate from a non-existent Radiography program at Uniport and hence determined to be a quack posing as a professional radiographer.

It was learnt that Mr Igbinovia notified the security personnel who apprehended the quack but in a volte-face; Senior medical, administrative and security staffs who initially apprehended the young man provided cover for the quack and ensured his release while the whistle blower was vilified for his actions, not to mention a slap on the face he received from Dr Joshua Okunoghae and his subsequent detention at the BDPA Ugbowo police station.

According to Mr igbinovia, he was severely tortured and dehumanized by the police inspector who handled the case until his lawyer and the Chief medical officer Dr Iyekhepoklor waded into the matter and secured his bail

Efforts to reach the CMO as at time of writing this report proved abortive and emails sent to the Radiographers registration board of nigeria on this issue had not been replied.

More details to come as they unfold
