The National Vice President of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Bashir Suleman, has appealed to the management of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, to address the challenges of poor infrastructure and ‘unsatisfactory conditions’ of service under which he said members currently operate.
Bashir who led a delegation on an advocacy visit to the hospital management at the weekend, said members of his union were not being duly promoted and that they were facing accommodation problem, stoppage of teaching allowances of 2013, and lack of training of staff, among others. Responding, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Olatunde Alabi, said inadequate funding had been the major reason behind poor infrastructure and staff development.
