The junior Nurses (NOI/II) who recently withdrew from NANNM have returned to the association after a powerful national delegation met the aggrieved group.

 

You would recall that the whole saga began when on 31st October 2016 Nursingworld Nigeria reported that Over a hundred junior Nurses, Staff Nurses, Nursing Officers 1 & 2 (Gombe Federal Teaching Hospital Nurses Withdraw From NANNM, Write Management) under the employ of the Federal Teaching Hospital had written to the management of the Federal Teaching hospital Gombe to signal withdrawal from participation and financial contributions to the National Association Of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM). Days before this the FHI Nurses had also written to NANNM signally their intensions to put out due to various reasons in the article Federal Health Institution (FHI) Nurses VS National Association Of Nigerian Nurses And Midwives.

 

Now it seems their grieviances have been put to bed following a meeting held between the aggrieved nurses and a high powered delegation from NANNM which held as reported by Nursingworld on 29th December 2017. 

 

In a letter dated 12th of January 2017 sent to a Nursingworld correspondent, the group had written to the National president acknowledging the effort of the national body and also pledging support to the association at all level. And also indicating that they had suspended all withdrawal activities and have since begun the process of proper membership enrollment into NANNM as advised by the delegation.

 

The group also indicated that proper membership enrollment has to be ensured to guarantee their return to the association. 

 

Sources said the group have not yet written to the management to recommence deduction for union dues earlier stopped until all membership procedures are completed. They stated that any delay of this process should and will be entirely blamed on the local unit executives who were advised by the national delegation to quickly enroll each and every member of NANNM properly.

 

The Nurses also voiced their appreciation and gratitude to all Nurses particularly members of NOI/II in other centers for their concern, support and words of advice during thier trying moment while looking forwards to the fulfillment of all promises made.
