The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) has inducted the fourth batch and 2015/2016 Doctors of Veterinary Medicine who graduated from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State.
Numbering 25, they were inducted after administering their professional practice oath on them. Speaking at the ceremony held at MOUAU Auditorium, VCN Acting Registrar Dr. Joshua Kantiyork, told the graduates that the oath conferred on them the legal right to practice the profession anywhere in the country and urged them to abide strictly by the terms of the oath of practice. MOUAU Vice Chancellor Professor Francis Otunta while describing the event as a crucial component of the professional development of the graduates, said the university attached great importance to the training of Doctors of Veterinary Medicine.
This, according to him, was why the institution supported all programmes and activities directed towards the enhancement of research, teaching and learning in the college.
Speaking, the Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Maxwell Ezeja, said he was delighted that the College had been granted full accreditation status by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the VCN.He, therefore, enjoined the graduates to live up to their professional oath and be good ambassadors of the MOUAU.
