The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has intimated the people of Ijesa that Wesley Guild Hospital would start enjoying support as part of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTH. He dropped this hint recently at the Temidire Resort Centre in Ibadan where he was a guest of honour at a reception organised by the eminent Elders of Ijeshaland.
The centre belonged to the retired Supreme Court Justice and ex-Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Emmanuel Olayinka Ayoola, in Ibadan, where he was the guest of honour at a reception organised by the eminent elders of Ijesaland. He said the Federal Ministry of Health, FMOH was waiting for necessary approval to begin implementation.

“I want to assure you clearly that Wesley Guild Hospital will start enjoying support as part of OAU Teaching Hospital, and as soon as we have presidential approval, it will become a Federal Medical Centre. “It requires the Presidential approval because His Excellency wrote to request for it. We have some representatives who also passed a resolution that we upgrade it and I am prepared to assess the situation on ground”, he promised his kinsmen. Ijesa Elders have requested for the upliftment of the Ilesa community, and in his response, Adewole who is also an Ijesa man, said, “I am very much in connection with the Governor of Osun State. And I am not a Minister who is at war with your Governor. We have the collective responsibility to develop Osun State.
My own concern is mainly about health and I know the concern of many people about upgrading the Wesley Guild Hospital. At the event hosted by the 83-year old retired Justice were many dignitaries including the Minister’s wife: Dr. Bukola Adewole, the chief medical director of the OAU Teaching Hospital, Professor Victor Adetiloye; the Acting Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Dr. Yetunde Oni, Chief Akinnola, Senator Mudadiru Hassan, Justice Rekiyat Haastrup; Mrs Kunbi Ogunloye, among others.
