Yobe State Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has said that the construction of the College of Medical Sciences complex at the state university campus will help meet his administration’s determination to “develop and enhance medical manpower in the state”.
The governor spoke yesterday during an inspection visit to the site in Damaturu where the College of Medical Sciences is currently under construction. The project include classrooms, offices, laboratories, and lecture halls, amongst others for the departments of human anatomy, physiology and microbiology.
He also said that the Yobe State Government has sponsored over 400 students to study medicine both in Nigeria and abroad.
In his briefing to the governor, the Vice Chancellor of the Yobe State University, Prof. Yakubu Mukhtar, said that they have identified additional structures to be provided to make the Medical College meet the required standard.
