National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abia State has said women are increasingly abusing drugs in the state.
The state Commander of the agency, Mr Akingbade Bamidele, told the Daily Trust in Umuahia yesterday that women between the ages of 15 and 35 were getting more involved in drug consumption and abuse. “Some of the females consume and abuse multiple drugs, especially tramadol, amphetamine and cannabis,” he said, calling for partnership with the Abia State government to curtail the trend in the interest of the individuals and the state.
“This will have devastating consequences on the future of the state if adequate measures are not taken at the right time,” he warned.
