Women who have never had children are at a higher risk of breast cancer, a consultant oncologist and radiotherapist, Muha-mmad Habeebu, has said.
Habeebu, who is the head, Department of Radiotherapy, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, spoke yesterday in Lagos during the symposium and awards organised by the Health Writers Association of Nigeria.
He said: “When a woman has children and breastfeeds the children adequately, it makes her breast less likely to develop cancer but a women who did not have children or never breastfeed is at higher risk of cancer.”
