The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr Ibironke Sanwo-Olu, has said technology is important in providing quality health care to Nigerians. Making the assertion during a health care conference put together by Hygeia Health Management Organisation in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said it was important for government at all levels to invest in modern technology as it would improve the way health services are delivered in the country.
She said, “We cannot be talking about the transformation of health care without paying attention to modern technology.
“Today’s doctors are increasingly young and versatile, especially in the application of digital skills. Such skills must be applied in the delivery of health care services. “The world is now talking about telemedicine and telehealth which allows patients and doctors to communicate at remote distance. “This is good because it reduces travel time as well as pressure on our doctors.”
Also speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of Hygeia HMO, Obinnia Abajue, said there was indeed the need to invest in modern technology to boost health care in Nigeria. He said, “Technology indeed holds the future to quality health care delivery in Nigeria and Africa.
