Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti Admission into Postgraduate Programmes in CGDS 2020/2021

Available Postgraduate Programmes 

Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes of the Centre for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. The Centre for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS) offers the under-listed academic professional programmes. 

1. Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies (PGD in GDS) 

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work (PGD in Social Work) 

3. Master Degree in Gender and Development Studies (M.GDS) 

4. Master Degree in Social Work (M.SW) 

DURATION 

The programme runs for one year. Six months of intensive lectures, assignments and examinations, three months for internship and two months for processing of results and certificates. 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS 

A. Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies/Social Work Admission into the Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies/Social Work Programme is opened to holders of: 

i. A bachelor's degree not below Third Class Honours or HND not below Lower Credit in any related discipline from a recognised University; 

ii. Any NUC approved equivalent professional qualifications to (i above) recognised by the Senate of Ekiti State University; 

iii. A minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language with at least a pass in Mathematics obtained at not more than two sittings in GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB Ordinary Level, aside from ‘I’ of ‘ii’. 

B. Masters in Gender and Development Studies (M.GDS) 

Admission into Master of Science Degree in Gender and Development Studies is opened to holders of: 

  1. A minimum of Second Class Honours Degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Law, Humanities, Education and related disciplines from any recognized University; 
  2. A minimum of Second Class Honours in any other discipline and at least two (2) years significant appropriate/relevant work/demonstrable practical life experience in the field of gender issues would be admissible for the Masters programme; 
  3. Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on 5-point scale of Ekiti State University may be considered for admission into the Masters programme;
  4. iv. A minimum of five credit passes, including English Language with at least a passion Mathematics obtained at not more than two (2) sittings in GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB Ordinary Level in addition to any of T to 

C. Master Degree in Social Work (M.SW) 

a. Admission into Master of Science Degree in Social Work is opened to holders of; 

i. A minimum of Second Class Honours Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Guidance and Counselling, Health Education, Mental Health, Psychiatry, Public/Community Health, Nursing, Law or any other related disciplines from Ekiti State University or any other recognised University shall qualify for a direct admission into the M.Sc. in Social Work; 

ii. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on 5 point scale of Ekiti State University may be considered for admission into the M.Sc Programme; 

iii. Other applicants with at least two (2) years significant appropriate/relevant work/demonstrable practical life experience in the field of Social Work would be admissible for the M.Sc programme; 

iv. A minimum of five credit passes at GCE/SSCE/NECO Ordinary Level (obtained at not more than two (2) sittings including English Language, with at least a pass in Mathematics.
