Required Qualifications for HMO/Billing Officer at BARIEL Medical Center (BMC)

  • Graduate/HND in (Accounting, Finance, Business Admin) with 1-2 years post-NYSC work experience in a Hospital as HMO/Billing officer.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and its application to medical claims billing.
  • In-depth knowledge of HMO Business, account reconciliation, and related accounting tasks.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and use of business computer/software systems.

Duties and Responsibilities of HMO/Billing Officer at BARIEL Medical Center (BMC)

  • Recruiting HMO and Corporate clients for the advancement of BARIEL Medical Center business.
  • Ensuring that HMO and Corporate documentation are completed and submitted on time
  • To act as the BMC relationship officer in matters relating to HMO and Corporate clients
  • Eligibility and benefits verification for referrals, treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using electronic and/or paper processing methods.
  • Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe to minimize income loss.
  • Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract terms and discounts.
  • Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments and reconciling accounts.
  • Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned HMO accounts.
  • Other duties as may be needed for the advancement and success of BMC in the healthcare industry.
