We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Integrated Community Radiographer

Locations: Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo and Lagos

Reports to: Integrated Health Care Advisor

Secondary Reporting to: State Program Manager

 

About THRIVE

Transforming Health and Resilience for Individuals through Vibrant Empowerment (THRIVE) Award THRIVE is a five-year agreement by USAID, commenced on December 19, 2024.  

THRIVE is implemented by Center for Clinical Care and Research.

The project will ensure that Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) are cared for, and protected by their households, communities, and local and state government to reduce their vulnerability to HIV.

 

The project expected results is highlighted as follows:

  • Households have increased access to basic services and care for OVC
  • Communities ensure that OVC secure their rights
  • Local and State Government deliver basic services, detect and respond to child rights violations
  • Prioritized targeted services for specific OVC subpopulations delivered.

 

Description

  • Background Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health concern, particularly in under-served and hard-to-reach communities.  
  • Early and accurate diagnosis using modern tools like portable digital X-ray, especially for children and adults in the community, is critical for effective TB control.  
  • This role supports community-based TB case finding initiatives by operating portable digital X-ray machines and collaborating with key stakeholders, including State TB partners and community representatives
  • Objective To support TB-HIV acceleration plan (TAP) through TB detection efforts by operating portable digital X-ray equipment during outreach and screening campaigns, ensuring high-quality imaging and safety, while actively collaborating with State TB teams and community actors for effective service delivery.

 

Job Summary

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining portable digital X-ray machines for TB screening during community outreach activities.
  • Conduct basic image interpretation or assist with image transmission to remote radiologists for interpretation as needed
  • Ensure timely uploading, labeling, and storage of images on designated digital platforms including troubleshooting basic technical issues with the digital X-ray equipment
  • Work closely with State TB and Leprosy Control Programs (STBLCP), Local Government TB supervisors, and implementing partners; coordinate with relevant community team for smooth field operation
  • Support training or sensitization sessions on the use of digital X-ray in TB screening for relevant stakeholders if required
  • Support community engagement to increase PDX awareness, acceptability providing clear and culturally appropriate communication on the X-ray process and its role in TB diagnosis
  • Maintain accurate records of all screening activities including number of individuals screened, challenges, and outcomes and submit periodic reports as required by the supervisor
  • Proficiency in using CAD software.

 

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • S/he is to Prepare and position patients for X-ray procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Operate PDX equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic Images. Adjust Imaging parameters according to specific diagnostic needs.
  • Basic interpretation of CAD-generated heatmaps/scores
  • Maintain accurate records of radiographic procedures and patient Information.
  • Ensure compliance with all radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure risks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on radiographic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with technical support for repairs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate In ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Participate in planning and coordination meetings with State TB partner
  • Support and adhere to the facility's policies and procedures.
  • Apply infection prevention and radiation safety measures according to national and international standards
  • Work closely with the State TB and Leprosy Control program (STBLCP) to ensure optimal use of the Portable Digital X-rays for Active TB case finding In Hotspot communities. Integration with national TB notification platforms or health information systems
  • Perform other additional duties assigned.

 

Key Working Relationships:

  • Supervisory: This position has no supervisory role
  • Internal: Integrated Health Care Advisor, Integrated Health Care Specialist and Officers, State Program Manager, CSO Partners
  • External:  Other Implementing treatment partners, SACA, Ministry of Health, SPHCDA.

Qualification and Skills

  • BSc Radiography (preferred) or Higher National Diploma
  • Valid practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
  • Certification in radiation safety or basic radiation protection
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency In operating digital radiography equipment.
  • Knowledge of pediatric and adult chest imaging techniques
  • Strong knowledge of radiation safety and protection protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work Independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with NGO activities, particularly TB programs, is an added advantage.
  • Must be flexible with absolute Integrity, organizational awareness, and understanding of cultural differences.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including standing for long periods and moving equipment.
  • Must possess an Android phone for reporting and communication purposes.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with digital equipment.
  • Ability to manage official Information In a confidential manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
