About the University
The Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare was established in 2022. It is located in the ancient city of Azare the capital of Katagum Local Government of Bauchi State.
The University currently has five (5) Faculties as follows:-
1 Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
2. Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences
3 Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.
4 Faculty of Clinical Sciences.

Qualifications and Requirements
a. PROFESSOR (CONMESS 7)
Candidates should be holders of an MBBS/BDS Degree from recognized Universities with fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or its equivalent in the relevant specialty/sub-specialty with at least twelve (12) years teaching, research, and administrative experience in a tertiary institution. Candidates must possess demonstrable competence to provide academic and research leadership. Candidates must also be specialists in core areas of departmental focus of study, with evidence of relevant scholarly publications in both local and internationally reputable peer-reviewed journals, plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable. Candidates who are not already Professors in recognized universities will not be shortlisted for a professorial position.
b. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (CONMESS 6)
Qualifications are as stated for Professors, but with at least ten (10) years teaching, research, and administrative experience in a tertiary institution. Candidates must have evidence of relevant scholarly publications in local and international reputable peer-reviewed journals and registration with relevant professional bodies, where applicable. Candidates who are not already Associate Professors will not be shortlisted for the position.
c. SENIOR LECTURER (CONMESS 5)
Qualifications are the same as (a) above but with eight (8) years teaching, research, and administrative experience in a tertiary institution. Candidates must have evidence of a minimum of ten (10) scholarly publications in both local and international reputable peer-reviewed journals, plus registration with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
d. LECTURER I (CONMESS 4)
Candidates should be holders of an MBBS/BDS degree from recognized Universities with fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or its equivalent in the relevant specialty. Evidence of publication of anginal articles in both local and international reputable peer-reviewed journals is an added advantage, plus registration with relevant professional bodies.
RENUMERATIONS
The salaries and other conditions of service are similar to what is obtained in the Nigerian University System. Candidates will be offered positions commensurate with their qualifications and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON REQUIREMENTS
Although. Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, encourages young post-doctoral and mid-career aspiring academics. only candidates with MBBS/BDS degrees will
be shortlisted for any of these positions. All applicants are expected to be fully computer literate and comprehensively familiar with the internet and online technologies of instruction (In compliance with Federal Character Commission regulations. FUHSA will consider employing applicants from the six Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria and reserves the right to ensure this balance in its short-listing of potential employees.
