Care Best Initiative (CBI) is a government-registered and recognized Woman-Led and Youth-driven National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) founded in 2019. Our mission is to save lives, alleviate the suffering of most vulnerable children, adolescents (lower and older), young people, women, and People with Disabilities (PWD); to maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters, among those affected by them; as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situation, and to promote their rights in the society. We have implemented various donor and self-funded projects/activities in several areas of humanitarian needs among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), returnees, and host communities. We are actively present in Northeast (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, and Bauchi States) and Northwest (Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states) Nigeria. CBI employs a multi-sectorial stakeholder-engagement and community-inclusion approach to the implementation of all her programs and activities and is well experienced in advocacy, influencing awareness creation, and behavioural change programming. Our thematic areas of operations cut across sectors like Health (FP, SRH, HIV/AIDS & RI), Education, Nutrition (CMAM, MIYCN), Protection (GBV, Child Protection, GE&I), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security & Livelihood (FSL) among others with the objectives to improve access to basic and reproductive health services, and support distressed families.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

Location: Gusau, Zamfara

Job type: Contractual - Six (6) months

Responsible for: Delivering the GBV program

Job Purpose

  • The M&E Assistant will support the program officer in managing day-to-day M&E tasks arising in the Field and providing technical support to field teams to ensure effective implementation of the ‘Gender-based violence’ project in Gusau of Zamfara State. The M&E will be a member of the PCO Program Team and report to Program Officer (PO).
  • This position is central to the designing, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of protection activities in CBI Zamfara State operations.
  • The officer will assist the program officer who will be responsible for building capacities of key community own resource persons to facilitate and implement protection activities in the community and institutions (schools and reception centers) to improve Gender-based best practices The staff is also expected to be responsible for the entire process of management of the project activities. Furthermore, He/she will assist the PO regarding regular updates and the progress of the project and strategic interventions.
  • Through the strategic implementation of this project, he/she will directly work to contribute to the execution of CBI’s overall mission and strategic plan goals for 2023.

Job Description / Principal Accountabilities

Project Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation:

  • Monitor the field activities based on the project implementation plan
  • Assist in developing operational monitoring tools (checklist, questionnaires, databases, interview and survey forms, etc.)
  • Monthly data collection, data entry & data analysis based on project requirements ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide timely inputs for new initiatives and improvements on M&E issues to the management team.
  • Participate in the project’s quality, and implementation, particularly through identifying weaknesses and strengths in MSYD M&E issues and reporting to the management team.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the project’s results and achievements.
  • Actively collaborate with MSYD MEAL Officer and provide inputs to develop databases on project activities and assist in updating regularly the database according to the project requirements
  • Actively participate to project implementation & coordination meetings.
  • Assist in developing technical concepts, guidelines, manuals, procedures, and concept papers on M&E issues upon request of the management team.
  • Provide inputs to project reports and publications upon request of the management team.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly schedule of monitoring and evaluation-related activities.
  • Provide M&E verbal and written reports on a weekly basis to the management team
  • Support short-term M&E evaluators and experts as required.
  • Support research and study activities on M&E related issues.

Job Holder Entry Requirements

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):

  • University Degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health). Masters will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience, ideally in an INGO or well-acknowledged NGO, having experience working with government partners and project fund/grant management.
  • Experience in all aspects of project monitoring and evaluations, possession of a M&E Certification will be an added advantage.
