We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Advisor

Location: Kaduna with frequent travels to project locations in the North.

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

To strengthen the Nutrition unit of CCDRN at state levels. This position will work under the supervision of the Head of Program (HoP) to effectively contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring, and management of nutrition interventions across all project locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Nutrition Advisor is responsible for providing technical advisory support to ensure the nutrition projects are developed and implemented thoroughly.
  • Lead implementation of Food security and nutrition activities using appropriate project management tools to plan, review and track progress and quality.
  • Definition, supervision, and monitoring of CCDRN Nutrition programs, in compliance with national guidelines and in coherence with identified humanitarian needs.
  • Conduct frequent research to improve project activities.
  • S/he will support project management with recommendations for improving processes to achieve objectives, will contribute to the overall adaptive programming approach, and will play a key role in project work planning, learning, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance of programs in terms of achieving objectives in current grants.
  • Ensure quality and timely field level implementation of the food security and Nutrition program (Community mobilization SC, OTP, BSFP, IYCN), against set objectives, targets, work plans.
  • Lead delivery of new nutrition practices and innovations through SBC, liaising with the Communications and Program team.
  • Designing, integration, and coordination of Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) approach
  • Participate or lead the development of training manuals, tools, procedures, materials in nutrition management and dietary diversification practices
  • Design and ensure the use of monitoring tools on all nutrition projects.
  • Lead in the facilitation of nutrition surveys using ENA for SMART, coverage surveys, sentinel site, LQAS, etc.
  • Provision of continuous mentorship and technical support to the Nutrition Coordinator, Nutrition Officers, and Assistants.
  • Develop annual training plan and deliver training to Nutrition Officers, Nutrition Assistants, staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • The compilation, analysis, and feedback on monthly reports from the nutrition program.
  • Coordination with other technical departments -Food Security and Livelihood, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, protection, Education, Logistics and Administration across CCDRN’s project locations (Yobe, Borno, and other states).
  • Represent CCDRN in nutrition and health technical meetings.
  • Participate in the external coordination with nutrition partners and governmental bodies and provide technical support and guidance in the nutrition sub-committee and cluster, where relevant.
  • Other duties as assigned by the HoPare consistent with the overall focus of the assignment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as Nutrition, Public Health, agriculture or any other related discipline
  • Expertise in Team management and capacity development.
  • At least five (5) years of specific post-qualification experience at the same level in a similar role with a bi-lateral, multi-lateral organization, Government, or NGO
  • Demonstrated experience in strong program planning, implementation, management, and monitoring skills.

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in managing Food & Nutrition Security projects.
  • Excellent understanding of Nutrition & Food Security issues globally and the context in Nigeria.
  • Experience in positive deviance and the care group model is an advantage
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and managerial skills, a high level of independent action, and a focus on innovation and strategic direction incapacity.
  • Demonstrates ability to influence, motivate and collaborate with others
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; and Team builder/player
  • Fluency in English and Hausa Language.
