Background

The REACH-OUT Project is an initiative focused on improving routine vaccine delivery to zero-dose (ZD) children in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).  

The project addresses both supply-side and demand-side challenges in immunization, with a focus on equity, cost-effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.  

The project is being implemented across three SSA countries- Kenya, Nigeria and Rwanda, to develop and implement tailored strategies that enhance the reach of immunization programs to vulnerable populations.

 

Reporting:

The Project Coordinator will report directly to the REACH OUT Technical Lead and supervise the Research Officer, Research Associate and consultants engaged in the implementation of the project.

 

Objective

  • The Project Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the effective implementation of the REACH-OUT Project in Nigeria, ensuring the coordination, execution, and completion of all Work Packages.  
  • This role involves overseeing project activities, monitoring progress, managing resources, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • The Project Coordinator will work closely with Work Package Leaders, stakeholders, and project partners to ensure the project achieves its objectives within the specified timelines, budget, and scope.  
  • In particular, the Project Coordinator will have oversight over all knowledge translation, dissemination, exploitation, and communication activities

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of all Work Packages, ensuring that activities across the project are well coordinated and aligned with the overall project goals and timeline.
  • Facilitate integration and synergy across Work Packages, promoting efficient use of resources, information sharing, and collaboration among the project teams.
  • Ensure all project implementation research work are completed in accordance with the protocols, design and deadlines, integrating cross-functional efforts to achieve project milestones.
  • Lead the planning and management of stakeholder engagement across all project activities, ensuring that national, regional, and local stakeholders are actively involved throughout the project phases.
  • Oversee the development and execution of communication strategies to ensure dissemination of project results to knowledge users, policymakers, and other target groups. This includes supporting the design and rollout of reports, infographics, digital storytelling videos, webinars, and other outreach materials.
  • Support the creation and management of Society Advisory Groups (SAGs) and National Stakeholder Committees (NSCs), ensuring broad representation and ongoing input throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Support the development, design, and implementation of training materials, including intervention manuals, for district and facility managers, front-line workers, and community representatives across all intervention sites. Ensure materials are tailored to the specific needs of each country and reflect project findings.
  • Direct the communication efforts that disseminate REACH-OUT findings to broad audiences, including policymakers, immunization managers, local communities, and international stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of capacity-building initiatives, ensuring that South-South and North-South knowledge transfer activities are implemented. These should enhance local capacity in SSA to continue using and disseminating the intervention tools post-project.
  • Ensure the development of strategies and models for the scale-up of the project's interventions and their transferability to other SSA contexts, including the drafting of strategic documents and engagement with stakeholders to facilitate this process.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure efficient resource allocation across all Work Packages and proper financial tracking for timely, transparent reporting.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of progress reports, including technical reports, financial reports, and dissemination materials, to the relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor the progress and quality of deliverables for all Work Packages, ensuring compliance with performance metrics and timelines.
  • Provide leadership and scientific oversight for the collection, management, and analysis of data, including the monitoring of interventions and the evaluation of project outcomes.
  • Ensure the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring that results are properly documented and shared with stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Lead the identification and management of risks and issues related to the project’s scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Implement quality assurance measures across the project, ensuring the integrity and impact of interventions, training materials, communication outputs, and other deliverables.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring to team members, ensuring that they have the tools and resources necessary to succeed.
  • Perform stakeholder mapping, power mapping, and social network analysis in the four states to identify key actors and power dynamics that influence vaccine delivery.
  • Coordinate the establishment and management of communication tools (e.g., document sharing systems, meeting schedules) for the consortium.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the preparation of progress and final technical reports.
  • Perform any other grant related duties assigned.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Project Management, International Development, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing large-scale, multi-country projects in the public health, development, or related sectors.
  • Experience in implementation research
  • Proven experience in the management of knowledge translation, dissemination, and communication activities.
  • Experience in overseeing the financial and legal management of international projects, especially those funded by EU or similar organizations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Expertise in developing and managing knowledge translation and dissemination strategies.
  • Proficient in project management tools.
  • Knowledge of EU funding mechanisms and reporting requirements is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
