AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF PGD COURSE IN RADIATION THERAPY 

At the end of the programme, the students would:  

1. Gain clinical/practical, intellectual and transferable skills on various Radiotherapy treatment methods using modern equipment.  

2. Apply principles of Radiation Protection for patient, self and others, perform basic Radiation therapy dose calculations and assess treatment plans required to deliver Radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation oncologists.  

3. Gain the desired skills required to identify research gaps and conduct independent systematic and scientific research to evaluate patient for effects of radiation and therapeutic responses and demonstrate effective oral/written communication skills.  

4. Acquire the right technique in Radiotherapy treatment planning to obtain an optimal balance between delivering high dose to the target volume while limiting the dose received by surrounding tissue that is normal.  

5. Be able to help in the fundamental concepts and competencies in assessment and evaluation of the patient for service delivery and develop the student skills and methodologies required for conducting scientific research in Radiation Therapy.  

6. Develop essential safety skills in radiation administration in radiotherapy practice and become a team member in all aspect of the patient's management in Radiotherapy.  

7. Successfully blend detailed theoretical knowledge with robust clinical experience to secure a qualification that is estimable academically and professionally.  

PRE- REQUISITES:  

Prospective participants shall be Radiographers with current practicing license in clinical practice, academics or currently working in radiation therapy units but have not undergone specialized training in Radiation Therapy. The training will lead to the award of Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in radiation therapy. Applicants are expected to secure a place of clinical attachment in a functional therapy department.  

METHOD OF APPLICATION  

1. Participants should pick up the course registration form from the RRBN head office, Abuja or any of our zonal offices or download the form from www.rrbn.gov.ng/forms or contact Head of Institution on 08097995076

2. Participants should make a payment of non-refundable application fee of Ten thousand naira (N10,000) in favour of RRBN through remita platform.  

3. The completed form with evidence of payment should be scanned and sent to the Institute via: [email protected] 

4. Submission of application ends on 30th June, 2023.  

5. Payment of tuition fee of four hundred and fifty thousand naira (N450, 000) can be paid once or in three installments of One Hundred and Fifty thousand naira (N15O, 000) each via remita platform in favour of RRBN

• A Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) code is generated in your favour which you can use to make payment later in any commercial bank or you can proceed to pay online with your debit card following the prompts.
