Think You Can Lead Veterinary Regulation in Nigeria? The Veterinary Council Wants You as Its Next Registrar!

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), located at No. 8 Zambezi Crescent, Off Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama District, Abuja, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Registrar.

The VCN is the regulatory and quality assurance body for the veterinary profession in Nigeria. Established in 1952, it oversees veterinary training and practice across the country. The Council also runs a Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons (CVSN) and maintains offices across all six geo-political zones in Nigeria.

The Registrar serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Council. This role includes managing the seal of the Council, maintaining the register and addresses of members, and keeping records of veterinary practices and premises. The Registrar is accountable to the Board of the Council.

Qualifications:

  • - A degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized university  
  • - Full registration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria with a valid (2025) Annual Practicing License  
  • - A Master’s degree in any specialty of Veterinary Medicine and Fellowship of the Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons, Nigeria  
  • - Demonstrable computer proficiency  
  • - NYSC discharge or exemption certificate  
  • - A postgraduate degree or diploma in Administration is an added advantage

Experience:

  • - A minimum of 20 years post-registration experience  
  • - Three referees must be provided who will submit confidential references. One referee must be from the applicant's current or most recent place of employment. If unemployed, it should be the last known place of employment

Conditions of Service:

- The appointment is for four years, renewable once for another four years
