University of Benin, Benin City Advertisement for the Post of Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technologist and Front Desk Officer

The Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI) is a World Bank supported program at the University of Benin aimed at building capacity for reproductive health policies and programming within West and Central Africa's tertiary education system. The specific mission of the Centre is to implement high quality training and applied research for reproductive health professionals needed to build a new cohort of human resource for reducing the region's high burden of fertility, unsafe abortion, maternal mortality and HIV/AIDS. This program is being implemented by the University of Benin in collaboration with partner institutions. — the University of Ibadan, the Nigerian Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the University of Niger, Harvard School of Public Health, Queen's University, Belfast, the University of Alabama, and the University of Maryland. 

The Centre requires the services of the following positions to manage the high-fidelity molecular laboratory and to strongly brand and disseminate the available services of the laboratory throughout the country;  

1. Medical Laboratory Scientist  

2. Medical Laboratory Technologist  

3. Front Desk Officer  

REQUIREMENTS  

Medical Laboratory Scientist:  

  • Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science with Certification by MLSCN with a minimum of 3 years post NYSC working experience and a current practice license (Chemical Pathologist and Medical Microbiologist preferably) 
  • Proficient in performing a wide range of laboratory tests and accurate results. 
  • In depth knowledge of Laboratory technique methodologies and equipment.  

Medical Laboratory Technologist:  

  • Current License and Relevant Certification  
  • Proven working experience as a Lab. Technologist  
  • Computer literate and experience with Lab. Information system 
  • Good Marketing skills  

Front Desk Officer:  

  • A bachelor degree or HND degree in a relevant field in any discipline. 
  • Proven work experience as a front desk officer or similar role. 
  • Proficiency in computer operating and verbal communication skills. 
  • Professional attitude and appearance. 
  • Good Marketing skills 
  • Able to multitask and time management.  

REMUNERATION  

This is negotiable and shall be on a renewable contract basis. Salary and emoluments are similar to those on contract at the directorate level in the Nigerian University system.
