Abstracts Submission for the 54th NSP Annual Scientific Conference 2014:
The Education Committee of the NSP invites colleagues to submit abstracts for paper presentation at the coming conference holding between 20th October – 25th October, 2014.
Conference theme: FIRST CONTACT PHYSIOTHERAPY PRACTICE: IMPLICATIONS FOR STAKEHOLDERS.
Sub-theme: THE ROLE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PALLIATIVE CARE FOR THE TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS.
Venue: Asaba, Delta State.
Below are the general information for abstracts submission.
1. A written abstract must be submitted for each proposed presentation.
2. It is the author’s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author.
3. Submissions are expected to be related to the theme and or subtheme of conference. However, abstracts on other topics that are of interest to current global thinking and emerging issues in physiotherapy and health sciences can also be submitted. The abstract track is the heading under which your abstract will be reviewed and later published in the congress programme and proceedings, if accepted. Please choose the track which best describes the subject of your abstract.
4. Only one presenting author per paper is permitted. Only an author may present the abstract. If no author is available the abstract will be withdrawn.
5. Notification of outcome will be sent to the corresponding author. Please note that only the corresponding author will receive mail concerning the abstract and is responsible for informing all co-authors of the status of the abstract.
6. All presentations must describe original work to which all the authors listed have made a significant contribution. Any reference to personal experience should be clearly labeled as such.
7. All proposals and presentations must adhere to the use of “people-first” language. A person must not be referred to by disability or condition, and terms that could be considered biasing or discriminatory in any way should be removed (eg use “person with a stroke” instead of “stroke patients”). See www.disabilityisnatural.com for more information and examples.
8. Any source of funding or support for the work being presented should be acknowledged.
9. All presentations including research on humans should ensure that reference is made to the methods/approaches for ensuring that the research was carried out ethically (ie ethics committee approval, subject consent).
10. Each abstract submission must indicate if the material has been or will be published or presented at another national or international meeting prior to the 54th (2014) National Scientific Conference of the NSP.
11. Speakers are responsible for providing all copyright permissions for material included in their abstracts and presentations.
12. The author presenting the paper must register to attend the congress and be available to participate in the programme at the time scheduled.
13. Any changes to the presenting author will need to be notified directly to the Education Committee of the NSP. Changes will be incorporated into the final programme if there is sufficient time, but thereafter no further changes will be reflected in the programme.
14. The scheduling of all presentations will be determined by the Education/Scientific Committee to ensure best fit with the overall conference programme. Any requests for specific dates and times will not be considered. Similar abstracts in related topic areas will be grouped together.
15. Laptops will hopefully be provided in all congress rooms. You may however bring your own laptop to the conference room but permission to use for presentation is not automatic.
16. For platform or poster presentation, programs must be original designs, not simply modifications of programs developed by others. The presenter must have been a significant contributor in the development of the program. Platform presentations presenters will be expected to bring a poster containing a simple presentation of his work with easy to read words and arrangement.
17. Deadline for submission of abstract is 12midnight Nigeria time of Friday July 31st, 2014. Corresponding authors of all accepted abstracts will be communicated with between 21st and 30th of August, 2014. All accepted abstracts will be published on the conference programme brochure.
18. All presentations during the conference must include the same content and follow the same outline as that described in the submitted and accepted abstract. Exceptions will only be allowed with written permission of the Chair of the Education Committee.
19. All decisions of the Education Committee of Scientific Conference are final as regards paper presentations.
