The National Primary Health Care Development Agency has praised the armed forces for helping restore security and deliver medical supplies in the northeast.
Last year, the army medical corps helped house vaccines and immunise children on camps in Borno state, while military teams provided protection cover for civilian health workers to reach insecure locations to vaccinate children.
Executive director of the agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib met Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai at Army headquarters in Abuja to commend troops “patriotism, gallantry and professional excellence,” according to a statement.

The Executive Director also commended other member states of the joint Taskforce on the North East, development partners, humanitarian bodies, NGOs, foundations and media organizations working together with the Nations Armed Forces to ensure a conducive working environment for primary healthcare professionals to provide critical health services for the war victims in the area.
He spoke of sustained commitment to improve on the provision of health services for war victims and those in camps for internally displaced persons.
In his response, Buratai emphasised the armed forces would remain committed to ensure peace, security and stability in the northeast and in all parts of the country.
He assured the armed forces would continue to support and cooperate with health workers in the northeast and other volatile parts of the country.
