CANPAD established a bursary/scholarship award program effective in 2009. This was to realize our aim of giving back to our community and contributing to the education of future generations.

 

Purpose

The purpose is to provide financial assistance to two current or prospective students in Canadian institutions of higher learning.

 

Eligibility

Any student of African heritage resident in Canada whose parents are not members of CANPAD is eligible to apply. There will be no restriction as to area of study. Financial need and satisfactory academic performance are

prerequisites.

 

Selection

Requests for nominations will be sent out to members by March of each year. An independent Selection Committee will be appointed by CANPAD to review the nominations. The successful applicants will be selected by the end of May of each year and the awards presented at the annual meeting of the association.

 

Amounts and Terms of Awards

Two awards each for $2000 will be made. One award would be to a person of Nigerian ancestry and the other to a non-Nigerian. The award is for one year.
