The Malaria Emergency Response (MER) project aims to provide malaria prevention, diagnosis and treatment interventions as add-on (or 'plus') services to the CORE Group Partners Project ongoing interventions in Yobe state. The provision of these services will be in line with Government of Nigeria (GON) integrated community case management of common childhood illness (iCCN) strategy. The MER project will provide these malaria services to Internally Displaced Persons; prioritizing pregnant women and children less than five years of age as well as their host communities in Yobe state.

Duration: 6 months
Location: Yobe, Nigeria
Specific Job Responsibilities (not exhaustive of the skills, effort, duties, and responsibities associated with the position) include:
1. Program Quality & Leadership:
• Oversee all program implementation activities as per the workplan and budget. 
• Lead and mentor partner staff in the achievement of project objectives.
• Closely monitor the assigned indicators and overall out put and outcomes, and work with mangement team to adjest activities and targets when indicated.
• Serve as primary contact point in the resolution of technical challenges encountered, and offer high quality approprite solutions 
• Assist the HoU with project reporting requirements, including preparation of presentations, report, and other materals.
• Assume lead on specific efforts as assigned by HoU.
Provide back-up support regarding partner implementation issues and coordinate activities with implementing partners as needed.
• Prepare donor programmatic reporting with  compiled date from MER and partner activities
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of programmatic & financial reporting to the HoU
2. Management and Administration:
• Maintain up-to-date documentation related to project monitoring and implementation.
• Ensure grant management complance with donor regulations, and timely acquisition of project input through close collaboration with the country program procurement staff.
• Monitor budgets, and laise with the finance and compliance officer and HoU to address discrepancies and off-traget spending.
Provide regular updates to HoU and CGPP Secretariat Director, and to government and non-government coordination bodies as requested
3. Representation and Advocacy: 
• Estabish and maintain good working relations with local partner organizations, and state and local government offices 
• Represent the project in approprite technical fora, providing high quality messaging with respect to the aims approaches, and achievements of the project.
• Produce quality technical briefs and best practices on behalf of the project as agreed with the HoU
4. Human Resource Management
Through direct supervision of RMCs, ensure that the project is adequately supported in reaching program object program objectives and reporting requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of the RMCs in the program 
Key Working Relationships:
Internal: Head of Programs; Head of Unit, HSS CGPP Secretariat Director, and the CGPP program Officers
External: The Yobe State Malaria Elimination Program: Yobe State Primary Health Care Development Agency, State Task Force, Technical or ciounterpart staff in SUNMAP, public and private sector stakeholders, UN agencies, Roll Back Malaria partnership, CGPP partner CBOs
Qualifications and Skills:
• A Bachelor's degree in a health related field (B.Sc Nursing; MBBS; B.Sc Physiology etc)
• Master's degree in Public health or a related field will be ab added advantage 
• Demonstrated experience in public health or a related field is madatory.
• Minimum of 5 yeats of cognate working experience in managing malaria programs of a similar scope to this program in a non-profit, development and/or humabtarian organization is required 
• Experience workign in Yobe State and knowledge of the local termain is required 
• Knowledge of the local languages in Yobe State-Kanuri and Hausa etc, is required 
• Knowledge of the locallanguages in Yobe State - Kanuri and Hausa etc is required 
• Prior experience in logistics and supplu chain management of health commodities is required
• Proven leadership and inter-personal skills and ability to build and motivate diverse and talented teams
• Commitment to gender respongsive/transformative programming.
• Public relations skills and ability to work well both within a team and independently

• Understanding the capacity-building principles in local partnerships desired 
• Professional proficiency in English oral and written communication skills is required
• Ability to travel in-country up to 50%
