COMMUNIQUE OF THE EMERGENCY GENERAL MEETING ( EGM ) HELD ON THE 28TH OF AUGUST 2015 AT THE NMA HOUSE, ADO EKITI,  EKITI STATE.  NIGERIA

PREAMBLE: Arising from the EGM of the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Teaching Hospital (FETH ) Ido Ekiti, held on the 28th of August,  2015, 10am.
The entire members of the Association of Resident Doctors, FETH Ido Ekiti wish to acknowledge the intervention of some selected Royal Fathers and their attempt to resolve the ongoing impasse between the Management and our Association.

We also acknowledge the recent effort made by the Management headed by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi AYODELE in putting into writing their plans to also resolve the ongoing imbroglio.

However, the discrepancies in excuses given for non- payment of our full salaries from May 2015 onwards (as against what was paid between January and April, 2015) and other emoluments as well as several unfulfilled promises by the Management in the course of this industrial action has prevented an  amicable resolution.
The Association also wants to condemn  in anticipation or otherwise, all forms of harassment, intimidation and security threats from any quarter of our members especially the leadership of this noble Association, we reiterate that such covert or brazen threats will be courageously dealt with by the security agents saddled with the constitutional responsibility of securing the lives of the Citizens of this Nation.

In view of the above observations,we hereby resolved as follows:

1) The ongoing industrial action embarked upon on the 9th of June, 2015 shall continue until Management shows a sincere will to address adequately the issues, central to which is the unprecedented illegitimate reduction in the salaries of Doctors, failure to implement the new entry point for House Officers as well as refusal by management to pay workers in this teaching hospital what is due them in the form of 2014 and 2015 promotion arrears, 2014 annual step increments for Doctors and other Senior members of staff of the hospital as well as refund of monies spent by workers on training and research as required of  the Management.

2) In furtherance of our willingness to find an accelerated and reasonable end to this unfortunate state of affairs in the hospital, we have,on our own volition, and in good faith, inaugurated a negotiation committee that has the mandate to engage the Management in constructive dialogue aimed at reaching workable resolutions. This is based on our presumption that the hospital leadership is willing to be fair and flexible.

In conclusion, we assure the public that we share in their discomfort and pain occasioned by this situation forced upon us when, without notice, the hospital Management decided to subject us individually and collectively to all manner of financial hardships, ridicule and social embarrassments by trying to set us on collision course with our own traditional institution. Therefore,we enjoin the public to lend their voices and prayers in prevailing upon the Management led by the Dr. L. M. Ayodele, to do the needful by paying our full salaries with the arrears and all the aforementioned emoluments so that we can discharge our duties of providing quality health care to the people of Ekiti, Nigerians and the World at large.

GOD BLESS FETH IDO EKITI
GOD BLESS THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EKITI STATE
GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
