An Abuja Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Kado on Monday granted bail to a medical doctor, Benny Jasper, charged with an alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The presiding officer, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, admitted Jasper on bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case to March 25, for further hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Simon Ibrahim, told the court that Ms Safiya Sani and Mercy Ibrahim, both of Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, had reported at the Utako Police Station in June 2013 alleging that Ibrahim collected N24,500 from them.
According to him, the complainants reported that the accused collected the amount under the pretext of obtaining a job for them at the National Insurance Company Limited, Abuja.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
