OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
On Friday 25th July 2014 the DG declared the emergency of International Concern upgrading it to Grade 3 in line with the Emergency Response Framework (ERF). This means there is a risk of Ebola spreading to other countries. Within this framework a team has been exclusively dedicated to the Ebola Emergency response, to assist at the sub-national, national and international levels.
The purpose of this programme is to strengthen surveillance and reporting during the Ebola outbreak response
Description of duties:
. Under the supervision of, and with guidance from, the WHO National Surveillance Coordinator:
. Support high quality data collection, management, analysis and reporting
Specific responsibilities may include:
. Ensure effective contact tracing is taking place;
. Ensure an effective alert monitoring and response system is in place;
. Ensure laboratory data is systematically captured and incorporated into the Ebola database in a timely and accurate manner;
. Conduct surveillance training and supervision as necessary;
. Support the development and implementation of analytical studies;
. Liaise with partners involved in surveillance activities.
Depending on needs, other tasks as defined by the National Surveillance Coordinator.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
University degree in epidemiology or post-graduate degree in public health with substantial training in epidemiology.
Skills:
Previous experience working in a multi-cultural team during a disaster, outbreak, or other emergency context, in low-resource settings
Strong epidemiology and surveillance experience
Competency in data management and analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience working with multiple partners including MOH
Ability to function effectively in complex and rapidly changing emergency environment
Experience:
At least 2 years relevant experience including experience in information management for humanitarian emergencies.
Languages:
English or French
