The wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Bisi Fayemi and the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, have led a health campaign team to market places, schools, religious institutions and car parks in the state to ensure good health for pregnant women and children under age five years.
The governor’s wife reiterated the state government’s willingness to provide quality health care services for the people, particularly women and young children in every community of the state.
Fayemi, represented by a commissioner at Sustainable Development Goals, Dr Abimbola Salako, spoke during the flag-off of the integrated campaign for mother and child as part of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week.
The governor’s wife said, “The health week, which is a health campaign implemented twice annually, comes in a well-planned beautiful and integrated package, which provides essential services and supplementation for pregnant women and children under age five years”.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Yaya-Kolade, said, “The five-day health campaign will be implemented in all 177 wards in the 16 councils of Ekiti State with visits to markets places, schools, religious institutions and motor parks to administer Vitamin A supplement, deworming tablets, folic acid, ferrous to children between six months and 59 months old and counseling for pregnant mothers.”
