Amidst growing anxiety over possible spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) to Enugu state, the Special Assistant to Governor Sullivan Chime on Health Matters Mr. Johnny Ezievuo has clarified that the state is free from the epidemic.
Ezievuo said in Abuja yesterday that the state government has mobilized all health institutions and personnel to be battle ready to contain the spread of the dreaded disease.
He said all those who were suspected to have had contact with the Nurse who left Lagos to Enugu have been investigated and there was no case of EVD detected.
"Even with that assurance, we are not taking anything for granted. We are taking all precautionary measures to ensure that nothing is left to chance," said Ezievuo.
"So for us in Enugu, there is no cause for alarm."
He however stressed the need for the people to uphold the practice of good hygiene in their homes, offices or shops as panacea to any disease.
