RE: MYSTERY MURDER, KIDNAP-FOR-RANSOM ROCK FMC OWO: A TALE OF LIES AND IGNORANCE

Our attention was drawn, with deep shock, to a report in the Vanguard Newspaper of Sunday 10th July, 2016, that tends to infer/suggest, with a host of staggering conclusions drawn from a lot of misdirected and misconceived isolated facts that all is not well with the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, from the sole view and conception of one Days Johnson who wrote the published article.

This is far from the truth and contrary to this highly misguided, publication stated above, all is in fact moving on well and good as it should be in the Federal Medical Centre, Om), Ondo State, under the very professional and dynamic leadership of Dr. Ahmed Lie. Adeagbo.

Ordinarity, a s Concerned Stakeholders and dedicated Staff of the Federal Medical Centre, Own, who are highly occupied with the primary and most important duty of healthcare delivery to Owo people and members of the general public as a whole, we would have ignored this idle literary debris. However, for the deliberate use of the print media to spread this falsehood and misinformation, warfare, aimed at curtailing the truth about the new dawn of peace, progress and stability being experienced now at the FMC Owo; we are constrained as Concerned Stakeholders and Staff to briefly respond on a number of issues falsified in the misguided piece stated earlier as it relates to the aspersions it has cast and in the same vein to refute and prove them unfounded, against the hospital and the present administration in the following points:

1. The sordid concocted tale of the so-called Mystery Murder, Kidnap-For-Ransom, has nothing essentially and particularly, to do with the FMC, Owo alone as a tertiary healthcare institution. Rather, the hospital also has its staff living in the open society and it has had its own unfair share of its staff falling victims to some of these evil menace lurking rampantly in our society, today. throughout the country especially in recent times.

2. There are rie powerful forces known, to our knowledge, within the hospital that dictate and guide events except the properly constituted team of management that is working hard daily to better the lot of the general public is delivering proper healthcare services even better than before and true to this falsehood, no names were mentioned as powerful forces to substantiate the claim. Suffice it to say that the hospital is managed well by the management. 3. It should be considered by any well-meaning individuals as the height of wickedness and social/civil insensitivity to associate or even suggest or jump to conclusion that Dr. David Ogurituase. of blessed memory, might have been killed as a result of fallout from any crisis, remotely or immediately suggested, that might have occurred at the hospital in the past years. Furthermore, of note is the fact also that Dr. Adediran Kolajo, the immediate past Interim Administrator (I.A.), was not even at the hospital then when the sad incident occurred and neither had this present administration shared in any such taleisad story to tell of any of its Staff,.

4. We also note that the alleged incident of threat of the life of Dr. Muyiwa Alonge, and the unfortunate kidnapping of Mrs. Queen Adeyeye, by gunmen as well as that of Mr. Kayode Ashaju. the Acting Head of Finance and Accounts of the hospital, are random and totally isolated societal criminal cases that plague all members of the general public, equally, in almost every society in the country today, as it is in these very trying times in our nation's recent history. It is no news saying that almost on daily/weekly or monthly basis, at various places throughout the nation, people fall victim to the activities of these dangerous members of the open society.

Sadly, and contrary to the opinion of the Sunday Vanguard publication of the 10th July, no ransom was paid: rather the intelligence, skill. professionalism, investigative industry and bravery of the men of the DSS and Police should be highly commended by outlets of public enlightenment, rather than the inglorious attempt at making hard work count for nothing and the lives of responsible citizens of this country, targets for criminals to prey on for ransom or illicit advantages.

This should not bess as it is irresponsible and condemnable. Again, it/v not news to add that the AbujaiLokoja Express way has been very troubling axis for sojourners owing to the too many illegal activities going on along that road.

5. The present Acting Medical Director, Dr. Ahmed, Liasu Adeagbo, is presently doing his best to continuously sustain the present unprecedented stride of progress and concord that is right now enjoyed at the hospital even as he works hard, tirelessly, with great effort and support from every staff and members of management to take the hospital to an even greater and better height. His depth of experience and educational background has been displayed in his manner of handling the management of the hospital to the admiration of the body of staff.

6. The Association of Resident Doctors' (ARO) issue, like other similar challenges in the hospital in the recent past, on its own part is not different from the challenges faced in this body by other hospitals throughout the country where the ARD gives these hospitals similar or peculiar challenges to navigate around. The hospital has no crisis with the ARD different from what is peculiar to the nature of their engagements.

7. We further, in trying to reply the misguided juggling of fact, call to mind our reasons for sharing our knowledge of the facts in the words well captured from a British Author, Jonathan Swift when he said, "Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, hoboo late; the jest is over, and the tale bath though a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.' Our aim is to save the public from the pyramid of lies presented to them with a stitch in time.

8. We finally wish to inform the members of the general public that FMC, Owo, is being handled efficiently by highly responsible and professionally trained members of the noble profession and other supporting professionals of stellar qualities that could make a good and positive difference anywhere they choose to render their service as well as they do even here at the hospital. We, therefore, in summing up strongly reiterate that F.M.C. Owo, Ondo State, should be celebrated for its resilience than being vilified, in spite of its recent gm/sound innovations.
