COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF MEETING OF JOINT UNIONS/ASSOCIATIONS OF FEDERAL TEACHING HOSPITAL, WO-EKITI HELD ON TUESDAY 3"" MAY 2016.

PREAMBLE: We condole with the families of the six doctors and the NNMA driver Who died in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna road (in which the hospital lost Dr Aladesanmi Tunde and Dr akinyele Alexander and Dr Atolani) on their to represent their colleagues at a National conference. We pray to God Almighty to protect and provide for the families lelt behind and to give all the fortitude to bear the irredeemable loss.

We use this opportunity to thank the Fkiti State governor Dr Ayodele Fayose, Kaduna State Government, all and sundry for the support rendered during the period of grief

We discussed critically the happenings at the Federal teaching hospital. ido-ekiti in recent limes. the yarning of our members and the comments of the hospital management without bias and the following are our observations and resolutions.

OBSERVATIONS
1. We noted the insensitivity and the irresponsiveness of the Management of Federal Teaching hospital Ido Ekiti since the occurrence of the accident. Despite being informed: Nine-days later the Management is yet to release a condolence statement to the bereaved families. neither has the Management made any visitation to members of the bereaved families nor were they involved in the burial arrangement for the deceased.

2. We noted that instead of mourning the death or commiserating with their families, the Management especially the Chief Medical Director has politicized the situation and does not mind mocking the dead just to secure his second term ambition as evidenced by various utterances in the media.

3 We noted with dismay the interview, granted by the Chief Medical Director to the Nation Newspaper of Monday 2nd May 2016 where he insulted and called us various unprintable names. We are terrified by the various claims made by the CMD in the said publication where he purporiedly claimed that only five (5) member of staff died since the inception of his administration as against the forty two claimed by us. Most worrisome is the act of unprofessionalism and unethical behaviour of the CMD in divulging the cause of death of a nurse (to be AIDS) in the Media. This level of desperation, unprofessionalism and insensitivity is disappointing and regrettable.

4. We noted the grievances of the public resulting from the extortion via sales of application forms for employment into various positions in the hospital at #5000 each since 2013 without conducting any interview. Rather in October 2014, prior to the commencement of 1PPIS. in order to cover the number of ghost workers. the Management employed pver three hundred personnel without following due process and backdating their employmemt letters by one to two years.

5. We noted the unjust removal of various allowances by the Management from the staff salaries e.g rural allowance, despite staff running various out-staiion in the rural area

6. We noted with dimay the sacking of over Thirty Resident Doctors in the name of relocation without making rePlacement in the last three years. Also we noted a drastic reduction in the numbers of intern doctors (1115 to a staggering 18) intern Pharmacist, Medical laboratory Scientist, Physiotherapist etc.

7. We noted with shock the undue inflation of the number of members of staff being paid under GIFFMIS platform and the siphoning of the lelf over funds.

8. We also noted the stoppage of payment of update fees, examination fees,Revision Courses lees. Conferences, CPD and Training allowances lo all categories of workers in the last three years.

9. We noted the various harrassment (including SEXUAL HARRASSMENT), threat and victimization of staff through undue demotion, withdrawal of salaries and unnecessary outstation posting for no just cause.

10. We noted that call food has been withdrawn for more than six months despite staff running life-saving duties during call hours compared with what is obtainable in sister institution.

11. We could not believe the level of compromise and bastardization of NHIS  services in the Hospital as characterized by unavailability of drugs and special eare.

12. We obseoed that Promotion Exereise at the Federal teaching hospital ido ekiti is biased and unfair. While friends and allies of the Management get undue promotion. the perceived enemies are denied despite fulfilling all criteria.

13. We noted that payment of Government funds are being made into other accounts being run by the hospital outside TSA

14. We noted the geometric increase in incidence of staff death in the hospital as precipitated by poor welfare, compromised NHIS service and lack of preplacement medical checkup despite deduction of fees for same from our salaries

RESOLUTIONS
1. That members of staff are law abiding and at thier various duty posts discharging their duties, though we are mourning our dead colleagues
2. That the Union/ Associations have the names and file numbers of staff who died within the last three years but we will not descend so low to publish their names without the permission of their families for ethical reasons. However such list can be made available on request. Therefore if the CMD is aware of only five, maybe the salaries of others are still being shared by the managment
3. That the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal teaching hosptial Ido Ekiti is supported by all Unions/ Associations in their plan to set up a trust fund for wives and children of the affected members of staff of the hosptial
4. That the chief Medical Director, Dr M Ayodele is becoming rather unprofessional and desperate in his bid to achieve his second term ambition
5. That the activities of the current managment led by Dr L M ayodele are not in line with the change agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR
6. That the entire staff lack confidence in the leadership of the current management of the federal teaching hosptial, Ido ekiti as led by Dr L M Ayodele, hence members of stafff hereby PASS A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE ON HIS LEADERSHIP
7. We hereby call on the federal governemtn led by President Muhammadu Buhari to effect a change forthwith in the leadership of this institution

CONCLUSION
We hereby assure the government and the people of Ekiti State and Federal repulic of Nigeria of our commitment to quality service as we expect the favourable response of Government
