Dr Nisser Umar, Executive Secretary, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, said the Federal Government had provided 10,000 ampules of Ribavirin, for the treatment of Lassa fever
Umar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Bauchi that cases of Lassa fever were common after the harvest period.
Umar said that although seven cases were confirmed, unfortunately, the patients died of the disease.
He said the availability of the drugs at the health facility would go a long way to cure any suspected case.
He said that the confirmed cases were from Toro, Bauchi and Tafawa Balewa local government areas.
“Federal Government has provided drugs to treat any suspected case in future,’’ he explained.
He called on members of the public to be mindful of their food storage systems, to prevent rats from getting into them.
