Gambia: Serrekunda Health Centre Nurses Trial Deferred

The two-count charges pressed against three of the nurses posted at the Serrekunda Health Centre at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Sheriff Tabally, was Tuesday adjourned to 26th June 2014 for continuation.
 
The three nurses: Awa Beyai, Awa Sanneh and Ndey Ceesay, were charged with the offence of abuse of office and neglect of official duties, all contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
 
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on or about 17th November 2013, failed in their duty to attend to the medical needs of one Isatou Sambou, and thereby committed the offence.
 
They pleaded not guilty to the offence charged; hence the litigation with the police prosecutor, Chief Inspector Touray commenced calling his witnesses in the case.
 
The defence counsel Lamin Camara announced his representation for the accused persons.
