A group, Health Initiative Platform, based in Kano, yesterday commended striking doctors in Kano and Kaduna for attending to bomb blast victims in New Road Motor Park.
Bomb explosion had rocked the two cities on Wednesday and Thursday respectively and at the close of the day claimed not less than 40 lives in the two states.
The chairman of the group, Alhaji Bala Danladi, who made the commendation, while briefing newsmen in Kano, said the quick intervention of the doctors despite their ongoing strike is a demonstration of their commitment, patriotism and compassion.
‘’The decision by the doctors to attend to the Sabo Gari bomb blast victims in the two states is a clear indication that they have human feeling. ‘’Their quick intervention has saved many with life- threatening injuries.
‘’Despite their disagreement with the Federal Government, the doctors felt that the strike action should not stop them from demonstrating love and concern for human lives’’, he said.
He therefore appealed to the Federal Government to look into their grievances, with a view to amicably resolving the crisis.
‘’The government’s genuine intervention in the health sector would go a long way in improving the sector to international best practices’’, Danladi added.
However, it would be recalled that soon after the twin blasts in Kaduna, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) President appealed to its members to render medical services, particularly at Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital and 44 Military Specialist Hospitals in Kaduna.
