The Registrar of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HROBN) Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Mami has said the board has positioned itself to providing regular continuing professional development training programmes for the health records professionals.

Alhaji Mami said this during a courtesy call to the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group General Manager on Medical services recently.

The Registrar appealed to the NNPC to facilitate the regular participation of health records officers at the corporation in professional development programmes.

"I am obliged to make this appeal because I know that since may assumption of office at the board, there have been low participants form the NNPC on any of its continuing professional development programmes," he said.

He said paper-based practices are increasingly giving way to electronic information management. "This development is not only resulting in the reconfuguration of practice space from centralize to decentralize so that practitioners might conceivably work in different areas of the organization, it is also makinggundamental demand on the skills which enable opportunity for enjoying proper and regular professional development programme as their counterparts in other fields," and that "unqualified and unlicensed staff in the health records department" of the NNPC should be replaced with qualified and licensed ones.
