HEALTH workers, under the auspices of Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, has given 15 days ultimatum to the Federal government to resolve all matters pending between them or face an indefinite nationwide strike. 

 

JOHESU had embarked on a three-day warning strike from January 20 to 22 to press home various demands which it claimed had been lingering since 2009. 

 

The workers, who threatened a showdown with the Federal Government should they fail to address all their demands by October 8, lamented that little or nothing had been achieved since January concerning the agreements earlier reached between them and the government. 

 

In a statement by its Secretary, Mr. Yusuf Badmus, the union said: "In view of inability of the government to address our demands since January, we therefore, demand for immediate resolution of all matters pending between JOHESU and Federal Government within the next 15 days. That is, not later than October 8, or face indefinite strike." 

 

Among the 15 issues is non-promotion of members from salary CONHESS 14 to 15 as  directors, having stayed for 4 to 15 years on the same salary level.
