The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) of the Federal Medical Center in Katsina has suspended its strike and directed its members to resume work immediately.
A statement yesterday in Katsina was signed by JOHESU Chairman Yusuf Mohammed said the decision to suspend the strike came after exhaustive deliberations with the management of the center.
According to the statement, the union and management agreed that no member of the union would be victimised for participating in the strike, and the suspension would be followed by negotiations with the management.
It would be recalled that the union last week began a strike over the commencement of the integrated payroll and personnel information system at the center.
IPPIS is a new payment platform introduced by the federal government for all workers on its payroll. The strike which coincided with the nationwide strike by the Nigerian Medical Association compounded health services in the state.
