The leadership of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) & Assembly of HealthCare Professionals (AHP) met on the 4th of april 2016 to review the current situation of things  and consequently appealed to the good office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) to set machinery in motion to resolve all pending issues within the next 15 Days.

 

It called on the government to consider that JOHESU leadership had shown enough maturity and restraint and urged that they reciprocate this act of patriotism.

 

In a letter sent to a medicalworld Nigeria dated 4th april 2016 and titled 'Re: Resumption of suspended industrial action by Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHES) and Assemly of Healthcare Professional Associations'; JOHESU referred the governemnt to a letter with Ref.No HQ/MHWUN/ADM/VOL.11/221 of 2nd february 2016 also on the above subject matter, in which a 15 day ultimatum beginning from 3rd of February 2016 was given.

 

You would recall that consequent upon that ultimatum, a committee headed by the late minister of state for labour and employment, late Barr. James Ocholi SAN met with JOHESU leaders on wednesday 17th of February 20016. At that meeting, the committee pleaded that government should be given till 10th of March, 2016 to resolve all the matters in dispute.

 

Again, on the 4th of march 2016, six days to the expiration of the agreed date, the minister of state for labour and employment met again with JOHESU leadership to ask for more time within which the committee would look into the matters holistically and come up with a resolution.

 

It was resolved that a meeting will be held on the 29th of March 2016 after the National council on health meeting would have been concluded and his return from his official trip abroad. Unfortunately, the amiable and sicere minister of state for labour and employment was snatched away from us two days after the meeting on 06/03/2016 by the cold hands of death.
