The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Kaduna state chapter, Chairmam Dr.Aliyu Usman Bappa yesterday said they will joined the national body to embark
on an idefinite strike sceduled to commence 1st July, 2014
He threatened that during the strike all hospital in the state would be shutdown until federal government listed to their grievances.
Addressing newsmen in Kaduna, Dr Bappa lamented on the deterirated state of health sector in the country, saying the health system is collapsing
"The whole health system is collapsing because the system is collapsing because the system is not working. Look at the dilapidated state of facilities no light and other equipment
"We are not asking for anything all we are saying is that give us what is obtain worldwide as doctors. We are not asking for too much but let us be treated based on international standard.
"NMA's perennial call on the federal government to carry out this all important restructuring and realignment of the health sector in keeping with global trends and with a view to enhancing its capacity to serve the Nigerian people," he said .
The Doctors said it was unfortunate that rather than the FG to partner with the NMA and other stakeholder in pursuing this patrtiotic objective, government has resorted to mere subterfuge and divide and rule tactics
Doctor Bappa said NMA has shown the highest level of maturity and understanding in the interest of  patients and in the mistaken belief that reason will eventually triumph above petty politics.
"Recent utterances and actions by agents of federal government have proven us wrong, which is why the entire community of doctors and dentists in Nigeria has risen up to protect the health sector from serial abuse by any group, either within or outside the sector," he said.
