Lagos State Government Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency Genral Public Notice

By thr Lagos State Health Sector Reform Law (HSRL) of 2006, the Health Faclity Monitoring and Accreditaion Agency (HEFAMAA) is responisible for the Accresitation, Registration and Licensing of the premises and location where quality healthcare service is rendered, be it preventive or curative; orthodox or non-orthodox 
(Traditional Medicine, Post-mortem).Inherent in these responsibilities is the verification of the qualification all healthcare workers in the facility It has come to the notice of the Agency that Outreaches, (non-facility or facility based) Medical screening services with or without diagnosis and treatment, are being provided without proper guidance from the Ministry of Health, through the Agency.
Most of the time, the services are rendered using persons not trained in the services being rendered in the bid to provide free screening for a community. Also, some healthcare facilities allow the use of their premises or facility for a services they have not been registered to provide for Community Screening Outreach Programs.
It is important to note that Article 74 (I) of the HSRL, 2006 state that" any person who establishes or operates a health facility without registering with the Agency shall be guilty of am offence and liable on conviction to a fine of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (250,000.00) or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both in case of an individual and in case of corporate bocy, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (500,000.00) only and the Directors shall be each liable to a term of imprisonment of three (3) years and fine.
In a view of the above; it is pertinent for healthcare providers, persons or organizations redering or planning or render any form of healthcare services to the general 
 public  especially as Free Screening Outreach Health Programs to notify HAFAMAA for permission to implement the outreach program to avoid any sanctions being 
brought against them. The role of HAFAMAA in this wise is to ensure that qualified personnel are providing standardize care for citizens of Lagos State
