MDG App Selected For UN-World Summit Award

Effort to retool software Nigeria to global market has started yielding expected results as Malaria Destroyer Game (MDG) , a highly Innovative Technology App developed by Mobile Software Solutions to fight the Monster Malaria Pandemic in Africa and the rest of the world has been selected as one of the 454 App gems to compete at the UN-based World Summit Award Mobile scheduled for Abudabi, UAE February, 2015.
MDG app was developed by the apostle of software Nigeria and immediate past President of Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, ISPON, Chris Uwaje.
The World Summit Award mobile is an UN-based initiative that selects and showcashe world’s best mobile content to bridge the digital gap and put UN-WSIS targets into action.
For the contest’s winners, WSA-mobile is a chance to raise global awareness for their products and to enter the international stage. Those projects that will come out on top of the Jury’s decision will be invited to the WSA-mobile winner’s Event taking place from February 1st to 3rd 2015 in Abu Dhabi. The event will host an exhibition, offering WSA-Winners a platform to present their services and projects to potential partners and investors.
However, the events will include keynotes from renowned experts as well as conferences, summits, forums, roundtables, vision panels, and strategy workshops, turning Abu Dhabi into the hot spot of the mobile world.
Salzburg and other an international jury of renowned IT experts and industry leaders have started evaluation of the world’s best mobile content in this year’s nominated products.
Accordingly, members of the Jury come from all continents and have backgrounds in the creative industries, telecommunication, advertising, journalism and research, as well as in teaching. The jury also includes representatives of international organisations in the ICT-for-development field
“WSA-mobile’s goal is to find out what works in different markets and in different parts of the world and what really makes a difference for the people in remote villages and global megacities”, Peter .A. Bruck, Chairman of the WSA-mobile, said in a statement..
“Consequently, it is not a product’s commercial success that matters most for the jury”, emphasizes Peter A. Bruck, Chairman of the WSA Board.
According to Bruck, the jury will judge the value of the content as well as the product’s design and its technical realisation. Furthermore, each nominee’s contribution to bridging the digital divide will play a central role for the jury.
WSA-mobile is organized by the International Center for New Media (ICNM) in Salzburg, the World Summit Award Mobile is a global initiative within the framework of, and in cooperation with, the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), in collaboration with UNESCO, UNIDO and UN GAID.
