Position: Medical Officer

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assists Health Delegate in running field activities related to the health program
  • Contributes to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health programs
  • Contributes to continuous assessment and monitoring of health situation in area of responsibility
  • In coordination with Health Delegate, networks and maintains contacts with State, local authorities and other humanitarian organizations, National Security, Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) and community leaders
  • Participates in field trips; at times may be requested to organize and lead field trip
  • Collects all relevant information in the field for the implementation of the programme and relays it to the health delegate or health coordinator

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor Registered with the Nigerian Medical Board of Nigeria
  • Working experience in Public Health in the tropics is mandatory
  • At least 2 years of experience in working in Nigeria and knowledge of the Nigerian Health System 
  • Good command of both written and spoken English
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of Borno mainly & Yobe surrounding areas
  • Prepared to spend 80% of time doing field visits
  • Able to translate local language Hausa and Kanuri to English and vice versa
  • Knowledge in Data entry and analysis

Position: Hospital Administrative Assistant

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and justifies requisition orders, liaises and co-ordinates with the ICRC medical logistician in regards to medical orders and deliveries and manages medical / emergency stock in the hospital.
  • Ensures proper storage of medication, monthly (imprest) consumption, participates in the monthly stocks inventory and ordering
  • Directly responsible for the proper functioning of non-medical support services in the hospital, including pharmacy, Laundry and kitchen department
  • Co-ordinates attendance, Venue and other logistical considerations following planned ICRC training programs
  • Compiles Hospital clinical data

Required Qualifications:

  • Health professional with 2-3 years of experience in hospital administration and medical logistics
  • Proven ability to work with people of varied cultural and social backgrounds
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven team leading skills
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills

Position: Anaesthetic Nurse

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities:

  • Trains and supervises the local Anaesthetists nurses and to introduce safe anaesthetic techniques where possible into the hospital project
  • Assists the mobile anesthesiologist in performing anesthesia during surgical operations, in accordance with the internationally/ICRC recognized anesthesia standards
  • Contributes to the initial assessment of the daily organisation of the anaesthesia and ICU department in the hospitals visited by the team
  • Establishes a sound working relationship with the hospital staff involved in emergency care
  • Contributes to good stock control and efficient use of hospital equipment
  • Compiles clinical data from Anaesthesia department

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with 2-3 years of experience with specific qualification and anaesthesia.
  • Up to date knowledge and skills on trauma, medical & surgical procedures.
  • Ability to provide support and education to the junior hospital anaesthetic especially in the management of critical surgical emergencies.
  • Proven ability to work with people of varied cultural and social backgrounds
  • Flexible, diplomatic and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to clinically supervise ongoing work practice, safe staffing levels and problem solving

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of Yobe and Borno surrounding areas
  • Prepared to spend 80% of time doing field visits
  • Able to translate local language Kanuri and Hausa to English and vice versa; knowledge of Fulani will be an asset
  • Knowledge in Data entry and analysis

Position: Accident and Emergency Room Nurse

Location: Borno

Main Responsibilities:

Responsible for the organization, implementation of standard operational procedures and providing support to the hospital nurses in delivery of quality emergency surgical care to patients
Contributes to organization of the set-up of the Accident & Emergency (A&E)  department at State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri 
Clinical supervision of operational activities in the Accident & Emergency area
Establishes a sound working relationship with the hospital staff involved in emergency care
Contributes to good stock control and efficient use of hospital equipment 
Compiles clinical data from Accident & Emergency department

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with 2-3 years of experience A&E room and in surgical care
  • Provide support and education to medical staff and nurses in the Emergency department especially in the management of critical surgical emergencies.
  • Proven ability to work with people of varied cultural and social backgrounds
  • Flexible, diplomatic and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to clinically supervise ongoing work practice, safe staffing levels and problem solving
  • Good coordination and communication skills
