REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Provost
i. Responsibilitiy of the Provost
The Provost shall he responsible for matters relating to the efiective administration of the College of Medical Sciences. Abubakar Tafaw Balewa University Bauchi, including academic programmes. faculties staff'. students, facilities. resources, budgets, fund raising an relationships with larger University commanity and external bodies an collaborations
ii. Desirable Qualities of the Provost
The Provost must be a medically qualified Professor in keeping with the requirement of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
The Provost shall be a strategic leader capable of managing a substantia complex. growing organization. Ideally, the candidate will come from an academic Medical setting with adequate relevant administrative experience
iii Educational Qualifitations
a. MBBS/MBBCH/MD as basic Medical qualification or equivalei degree.
b. Candidate must be If Professor of not less than 5 years post-Professori experience
c. Candidate must have a Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medic College or its equivalent in any of the Medical and Dental specialities/disciplines.
d. Must be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with a current practicing licenee.
e. Possession of a Doctorate degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage
iv. Good physical and mental health.
2. Professor
a. Must have M.BBS, M.Sc., Ph.D or Fellow of West African College of Surgons (FWCS), Physicians (FWSP) or any Equivalent qualifications
b. Must have published at least 15 Journal articles in peer Review Medical Journals
c. Minimum of 15 years of continuous teaching and research experience
Reader
As in B2 above but with a minimum of 10 years of teaching and researchexperience and at least 13 journal publications in a peer review medical journal.
Senior Lecturer
As in 2 above but with at least 9 years of teaching and research experience and at least 10 journal publications.
Lecturer I
As in 2 above but with a minimum of at least 7 years of teaching and researeh-experience and at least 5 journal publications.
Lecturer II
a. Must havc MBBS/M.Sc.and must have published journal articles in a peer review reputabte medical journal.
b. A Ph.D in the relevant field.
1. Assistant Lecturer
a. Must have M.BBS/M.Sc.
b. Technologists
a. Must have B.Sc/HND in relevant areas.
b.6 years post qualification experience for Senior Tecbnologist
C. CONDITION OF SERVICE
The Condition of Service is as defined in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. Bauchi Conditions of Service and other Colleges of Medical Sciences in the federal Universiries of Nigeria.
