The National Agency for the Control of AIDS has identified Cross River and 11 other states as well as the Federal Capital Territory as HIV endemic states in the country.
Director-General of NACA, Prof. John Idoko, said this in Ikom, Cross River, at the opening of a four-day free HIV and health integrated programme.
He listed the other states to include Lagos, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Plateau, Benue, Sokoto, Edo, Rivers and Kano.
The health integrated programme was organised by NACA, in collaboration with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals.
Idoko, who was represented by the Acting Director, Programme Coordination Department, NACA, Dr Priscilla Ibekwe, said the event would provide the opportunity for the people to know their HIV status.
