The attention of the National Agency for Food and Drug Aministration & Control (NAFDAC) has been drawn to the marketing and sale of an unevaluated and untested product purposted to be a rapid diagnostic test kit for the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)
The marketing of this unregistered product is done through text messages to Medical Directors of Health Institutions in a bid to induce them to buy the said kits which can cause untold harm to containment of the EVD epidemic in the country
Please note that it is illegal to sell or buy any diagnostic device which has not been evaluted and authorized/registered by NAFDAC. Any device, medicine, vaccine, hand sanitizers, gloves and any other product associated will the management of the Ebola Virus Disease must be brought to NAFDAC for evaluation and authorization before use.
We have directed immediate mop-up of such unregistered/fake products and the arrest & prosecution of offenders to avoid defrauding the public and causing unnecessary panic which can derail the current efforts by Government to effectively contain the Ebola Virus Disease Epidemic
All health personnel and the general public are hereby advised not to patronize such unregistered/fake products and to report the dealers to the nearest NAFDAC office or call 08175259353 for immediate action.
