COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EMMERGENCY GENERAL MEETING OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENT GENERAL AND MEDICAL DENTAL PRACTITIONERS (NAGGMDP) OGUN STATE CHAPTER HELD AT NIGERIA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION HOUSE LUKOSI ABEOKUTA OGUN STATE DATED 1ST OF MARCH 2016.
THEME: OGUN HEALTH SECTOR – WAY FORWARD.
At the Emergency General Meeting the following issues were raised;
(1.) RESTRUCTURING OF HEALTH FACILITIES - The condition of our health facilities has become a great concern for us as health workers as little or nothing can be done in a center where there are no conducive working environment and materials or equipment’s to work with. This we believe needs urgent and immediate attention to allow us serve the masses well.
(2.) SHORTAGE OF STAFF – The attrition rate in the health sector of the state in the last 2 to 3 years with no new recruitments that cut across all the cadres of health workers, has also been the issue to battle with in this sector coupled with increasing demands on this same sector.
(3.) RELATIVITY – Following the circular by the federal government since 2013 for all states to effect the payment of CORRECTED CONMESS which only implies that an error on the part of the doctors salary over 20 years be corrected once and for all, the government of Ogun State has refused to effect this correction; it is worthy to note that our colleagues employed by the same Ogun State working in the teaching hospital have since been paid using the same circular for over 10months.
OUR RESOLUTION:
After series of letters to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun, both official and personal, as well as sensitization of all other stakeholders, the government has not seen any reason to attend to any of the aforementioned issues ravaging the health sectors. Having fulfilled all necessary steps needed to ensure dialogue with the government and at the expiration of the 21 days ultimatum given to the state government with no favorable response. The members of this noble association has therefore mandated the executive members of this association to declare a one week warning strike starting from the 7th of March 2016 to 13th of March 2016.
We are not unmindful of the inconveniences this might cause the masses which we greatly regret, we need to affirm our resolution as the association to resolve these issues amicably through genuine dialogue so as to avert any prolonged industrial disharmony in the state.
LONG LIVE NAGGMDP
LONG LIVE OGUN STATE
