Nigerian Union Of Allied Health Professionals Communique On Summary Of Resolutions On The Current Strike Action

Dear Comrades, 
 
SUMMARY OF THE RESOLUTIONS REACHED AT THE MEETING BETWEEN THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND THE OFFICIALS OF NUAHP AT THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH MINISTER'S CONFERENCE ROOM IN RESPECT OF THE ON-GOING STRIKE ACTION 
 
From the various meetings we have had in Abuja in the course of the strike action, the following issues discussed and some level of agreements were reached while some are pending. Each item and the implementing organ of the government had been identified and classified.

1.  Revamping the infrastructure in the Tertiary Health Institutions Agreed
2.  White paper on Abdullahi Gusau and Yayale Ahmed committee's report.  Agreed but disagreed on the time of implementation
3. Board of Management to include Trade Unions and Professionals Association.  Agreed
4. Professional autonomy   Agreed
5. Headship of Department by University staff  Disagreed
6. Enhanced Entry Poatt for MLS and Radiographer  Agreed
7. Backlog of arrears  Agreed
8. Residency training for other heaqlth professional  Agreed
9. Surgeon General  Partical agreement
10. National Health Act  Agreed
11. Retirement age for Teaching Hospital  Disagreed
12. Abolition of the position of DCMAC  Agreed
13. Skipping of CONHESS 10 and payment of arrears in compliance with NICN judgment.  PRESENTLY RECEIVING ATTENTION WITH THE FMOL & E IN COLLABORATION WITH SGF
14. Adjustment of CONHESS salary structure.  
15. Stagnation and nomenclature.  
16.  Residual issue on FMC Owerri  Agreed
17. BMLS/AIMLS issue in UCH and others  Disagreed
18. Appointment of other health professionals as consultants and payment of specialist allowance.  Disagreed
19. JUTH Issues  Agreed
20. Call duty allowance for Health Information Managers, Dieticians and others.  Agreed
21. Sabbatical leave/30 working days Annual leave.  Agree/Disagree
22. Taxation.  Agreed
 
At the conclusion of the meeting the Hon. Minister promised to present all the issues discussed to the Top Management Committee of the FMOH and the ones within the purview will be sieved out and be implemented immediately while those that concerned other agencies of Government like HoS, NSIWC will be forwarded to them for action and for those that we do not have agreement, there will be room for further discussion.
 
Following the meeting, the Team NUAHP studied the resolutions and made further observation on some of the matters including those that were not yet discussed and sent to the Hon. Minister for consideration in the TMC meeting.
 
We are happy to inform you that some reasonable progress in been made even though we cannot regard this as an agreement yet until where we sit down to properly put them into a documented agreement. Meanwhile keep all hopes high and contiune the strike action until otherwise directed.

We await invitation from the FMOH to conclude the process of agreements.
