The National Officers Committee (NOC) of the Nigerian Medical Association wishes to call the attentin of its members all over Nigeria to the need and importance of taking out professional indemnity insurance to protect themselves and their practice.
  	Aside from the provision of section 45 of the National health insurance scheme act that requires health professional to take indemnity insurance, the code of medical ethics in Nigeria, 2008 as highlighted by the medical and dental council of nigeria in its public notice of 5th september 2016 also make it a requirement for doctors and dentists to make professional indemnity insurance to protect themselves and their practice
 
Members of the profession are strongly advised to adhere to the guidelines of MDCN as specified in the codes of Medical Ethics 	The NOC has made arrangements for doctors and dentists to easiy avail themselves of insurance policies at highly subsidzed premiums
