STAFF and members of the Psychiatric Hospital, Uselu, Benin City, Edo State were yesterday thrown into mourning following the reported death of a staff of the hospital, Mrs. Nkem Idemudia.

This has subsequently led to the postponement of the hospital Staff Cooperative Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) as the nurse, from Delta State was said to be an active member of the cooperative society.

Checks at the hospital revealed that Idemudia was said to have complained that she was not being promoted like her contemporaries, some of whom had risen to become Assistant Chief Nurses while she was still a Senior Nurse 1.

But when contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Efe Stewart denied all the allegations as he said “Written tests are conducted by officials of the Ministry of Health in conjunction with management and those who pass are promoted, so the management could not have been responsible for her not being promoted.
