The Chairman, Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Alhaji Mustapha Jumare, has urged nurses and midwives to take precautionary measures while handling the Ebola disease, saying hospitals cannot survive without nurses.
Jumare who spoke at a workshop for nurses and midwives in Bauchi yesterday lamented the death of a nurse in a Lagos hospital after contracting the Ebola virus.
“While we condole with the family, friends and well wishers of our colleague who died of the Ebola virus, I also caution on the need for us to be more careful”, he said.
He said the workshop was to improve the skills of examiners to effectively assess candidates during professional examinations in order to produce competent nurses and midwives.
