The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has described insecurity as a major challenge confronting the country today.
The body is therefore calling on the general public to join hands with the government in ensuring that the problem, especially in the North-East where insurgents have been terrorizing innocent citizens becomes a thing of the past.
In a communique issued after NANNM's 28th National Scientific Conference/National Executive Council meeting held recently at Usman Danfodio University
Teaching Hospital in Sokoto and made available to journalists in Gombe, the association lauded President Goodluck Jonathan's transformation programme in the health sector and his effort in tackling the security challenges.
The communique signed by NANNM National Chairman, Mr: Nana Takai and Secretary, Dr: (Mrs) Ngozi Osunde, urged the Federal Government to emmploy more nurse and other health workers in order to deliver quality services to the people. While appealing to the government to ensure that the Emergency Quick Response Committee and Disaster Management Teams are fully operational, it also urged the government to invest most in the training of health personnel on emergency management services. The association then called on the federal health institution that have not implemented the approved circular from the office of the Head of service of the Federation and the Minister of CONHESS 10 to start the implementation.
